Here, he presents a bold reimagining of the Louisiana landscape, drawing on his early paintings. The oak tree acts as a visual anchor, but the sky is done in a deep shade of pink. The three Blue Dogs featured in the print are accompanied by an alligator whose body extends across the width of the print. Like many of his early silkscreens, Rodrigue made this print by drawing on paper to create stencils that could be used in the printmaking process. The resulting image is one with a hard-edged composition with saturated colors.
